The average knowledge worker doesn't have an AI workflow. They have an AI chore.
Here's how it goes: Someone discovers ChatGPT can do a task. Great. So they do it in chat. Then next week, they do it in chat again with the same prompt, copy-paste, and cleanup of the result. This goes on for months.
That's not automation, it's a person doing manual labor with better tools.
There's nothing wrong with the ChatGPT Work tab. It's really good, but it's still a disposable environment for one-off work.
Recurring work belongs in a local harness (Claude Code, Codex) where you can tune skills and get real visibility through local logs.
As a rule of thumb, if you've done the same task in chat a couple times, you're better off spending 5 minutes and turning it into a skill.
Not sure if your chore is fixable? Comment it and I'll give you a read.
