# Based or Slop — Document Quality Analysis

Analyze documents for quality issues including unfounded statements, logical inconsistencies, stale content, and cross-document contradictions. Works on single documents or entire folders.

## When to Use

- Before publishing or sharing documents externally
- During document audits or cleanup sprints
- When inheriting a doc library from another team
- When something "feels off" but you can't pinpoint why

## When NOT to Use

- For copyediting (grammar, spelling, style)
- For design/formatting review
- For documents still in active draft (marked as WIP)

## Process

### Step 1: Document Ingestion

**For single document:**
- Read document (text first, JSON if tables suspected)
- If tables hidden in text output, extract via JSON parsing

**For folder:**
- List folder contents
- Read each document
- Track title, last modified, owner

### Step 2: Individual Document Analysis

Scan each document for:

**Logic & Reasoning**
- Unfounded statements — claims without evidence or sources
- Broken internal logic — contradictions within the document
- Circular reasoning — arguments assuming their own conclusion
- Vague quantifiers — "many," "most," "significant" without numbers

**Content Integrity**
- Hypothetical presented as real — fabricated scenarios, examples, or cases shown as actual
- Missing attribution — quotes or statistics without sources
- Unvalidated assumptions — "we assume X" without validation
- Jargon without definition — acronyms or terms never explained
- Passive voice hiding ownership — "it was decided" without saying who
- Metrics without baselines — targets given but no current state

**Freshness**
- Stale content — last modified date inconsistent with content
- Superseded document — newer version exists elsewhere
- Dead references — links to URLs or docs that don't exist

### Step 3: Cross-Document Analysis (Folder Mode)

Compare documents for:
- Contradictory claims between documents
- Misaligned positioning — different docs describe same thing differently
- Duplicate content — copy-pasted sections (sync risk)
- Orphaned references — doc references another doc not in folder

### Step 4: Generate Report

For each document:
- 2-4 sentence narrative assessment
- List of specific issues found (cite the actual text)
- Rating: 🟢 BASED / 🟡 MID / 🔴 SLOP

## Rules

- Text format first, JSON only if tables suspected
- Never propose fixes — identify only
- Be specific — cite actual problematic text
- In folder mode, always run cross-document analysis
- Rate every document

how it works

It reads a local document or a connected Drive document, then checks its reasoning, sourcing, internal consistency, and freshness. The review points to the text that supports each finding.

This is an analysis workflow. It reports issues for a person to assess and does not rewrite the document.

what to expect

A short assessment with specific evidence for each issue found.
For folder reviews, a cross-document check for contradictions, duplicates, and orphaned references.
A rating for each document, with claims, reasoning, attribution, and freshness considered.
